Overview

At Tread Lite, we aim to provide quality travel and food products carefully selected for life on the road in South Africa. As far as possible we source locally produced products to give you chance to experience travel as a local South African. 

If something is not right with your order, we will do our best to assist quickly and fairly.

Returns Eligibility

Items may be returned within 7 days of delivery provided that:

  • the item is unused and in original condition,
  • all original packaging, tags, and accessories are included,
  • the product has not been installed, damaged, or modified,
  • proof of purchase is provided.

Returns requested after 7 days may be considered at our discretion.

Non-Returnable Items

For hygiene, safety, and practical reasons, the following items cannot be returned unless faulty:

  • food and beverages,
  • opened consumables,
  • clearance or sale items,
  • custom-made or special-order products.

Faulty or Damaged Products

If an item arrives damaged or faulty, please notify us within 48 hours of delivery by emailing:
travel@treadlite4x4.co.za

Please include:

  • your order number,
  • photos of the issue,
  • and a brief description of the problem.

Where applicable, we may:

  • replace the item,
  • repair the item,
  • provide store credit,
  • or process a refund.

Refunds

Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item. We will also notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund.

If you are approved, then your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your credit card or original method of payment, within a certain amount of days.

Late or missing refunds

If you haven’t received a refund yet, first check your bank account again. Then contact your credit card company, it may take some time before your refund is officially posted. Next contact your bank. There is often some processing time before a refund is posted. If you’ve done all of this and you still have not received your refund yet, please contact us at travel@treadlite4x4.co.za. 

Exchanges

We only replace items if they are defective or damaged or if they are the incorrect size. If you need to exchange it for the same item, send us a WhatsApp message so we can arrange the exchange while you are still travelling in South Africa.

Cancellation Policy

Orders Before Dispatch

Orders may be cancelled before dispatch by contacting us as soon as possible at:
travel@treadlite4x4.co.za. If payment has already been processed, a refund will be issued less any non-recoverable payment gateway or banking charges where applicable.

Orders Already Shipped

Once you have received the order on arrival in South Africa

  • it can no longer be cancelled,
  • but may qualify for return in line with our Refund & Returns Policy.

    Delayed Availability

    If a product becomes unavailable or delayed beyond a reasonable timeframe, customers may choose:

    • to wait for stock,
    • receive store credit,
    • or request a refund.

    If payment has already been made for a cancelled order, a refund will be processed.

    Use of Products

    Customers are responsible for ensuring products are used safely and correctly.

    Camping, overlanding, and outdoor equipment should always be used according to manufacturer guidelines.

    Limitation of Liability

    To the fullest extent permitted by law, Tread Lite Trading Post shall not be liable for:

    • indirect or consequential damages,
    • loss arising from misuse of products,
    • travel disruption,
    • or losses caused by delayed deliveries.

    Intellectual Property

    All website content including:

    • logos,
    • text,
    • graphics,
    • images,
    • and branding

    remains the property of Tread Lite Trading Post and may not be copied or reused without permission.

    Privacy

    Customer information is handled securely and will not be sold to third parties.

    Information is used only for:

    • order processing,
    • customer communication,
    • and marketing communication where consent has been given.
